For operational reasons connected with automatic mail sorting, Royal Mail will issue revised versions of the 16 country stamps on 14 October 2003.
The stamps have the same designs as the stamps they replace:
England : 3 Lions, Crowned Lion with Shield of St George, Oak
Tree, Tudor rose;
Northern Ireland : Giant's Causeway, Patchwork fields (aerial
view), Linen pattern, Belleck ceramic vase;
Scotland: St Andrew's flag, Scottish Lion, Thistle, Tartan;
Wales: Leek, Welsh dragon, Daffodil, Prince of Wales feathers
(fleur-de-lys)
The images are from Royal Mail's Stamp Preview, Postmark Bulletin, and Philatelic Bulletin, and are Copyright 2003 by Royal Mail.
Technical details: The stamps are printed in sheets of 200 be De La Rue. The Northern Ireland stamps are in lithography, the other countries' are in gravure.
Norvic Philatelics First Day Cover service produced Post Office FDCs
with a set of 4 stamps from any one country - £3.25 each
Mint set - £2.60 for each country
These postmarks were available for the date of issue and all should be available on first day covers.
