Star Wars: The Force Awakens - stamp issue 12 October 2017 & 14 December 2017

Royal Mail will issue another set of Star Wars stamps ahead of the release of Episode 8 - The Last Jedi, on 14 December which has been filmed at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire.

This time there is no miniature sheet, only a set of 8 to be issued in October, but a prestige stamp book will be issued in December.

This is printed on self-adhesive paper by International Security Printers and contains 10 x 1st class stamps

One of eac of the 8 stamps, plus additional BB-8 and K-250 stamps with labels showing film stills from the Lucasfilm archives.

These 8 stamps are therefore essential for a complete collection, although they will not be accorded SG catalogue status individually.

A Prestige Stamp Book will be issued on 14 December 2017. 

4 x 1st class, 2 x 2nd class &
2 x £1.40 Machin definitive stamps

The Machins are expected to have security features coded MPIL M17L.

We expect that all panes will be printed in litho by
International Security Printers.

A special limited edition PSB with silver holographic cover will also be available from Royal Mail, priced at £75.

Star Wars 2017 retail booklets. Two retail booklets are to be issued on 12 October 2017 each containing four 1st class Machin definitives and two special stamps.

One booklet contains the BB-8 and R2-D2 stamps, the other contains Maz Kanata and Chewbacca stamps.

The booklets are printed on Security Printed Backing Paper, type 2, but one inverted and one upright:

All the fans probably know the detail of these fictional characters, so I shan't take a lot of space here on their write-up.

Technical details:

The 35mm square stamps are designed by Interabang using illustrations by Malcolm Tween, and printed in lithography on ordinary gummed paper by International Security Printers in two sheets of 48 stamps.
